Marlon Weening stabbed to death by his half-brother on Christmas Day on Niasstraat

On Christmas Day, Thursday 25 December 2014, Marlon Weening was staying with his two children at his mother's home on Niasstraat in Amsterdam-Oost. Shortly before quarter past four that afternoon his half-brother Bryan L. (41), two years his senior, stabbed him to death. According to Bryan, Weening had been shouting at his own children and behaving aggressively towards him. Bryan told police he had stabbed towards his half-brother eight or nine times; the pathologist later counted 36 stab and cut wounds. The two children and their grandmother witnessed it. Experts at the Pieter Baan Centre concluded that Bryan L. was so severely disturbed that he had to be considered greatly diminished in criminal responsibility. Prosecutors saw no self-defence and demanded two years in prison and tbs with compulsory treatment. The court ruled in line with that demand.
