Massod Amin Hosseini (26) shot dead in a car on Pisuissehof in Osdorp

Massod Amin Hosseini (26), born in Tehran, was found by local residents on Pisuissehof in Osdorp at around quarter to one in the afternoon on Wednesday 3 September 2014. He was in the passenger seat of a grey Volkswagen Polo and had been shot in the head. He had probably been there for some hours: a witness had heard a shot during the night of 2 to 3 September. According to Het Parool he had been hit once in the head, possibly by someone sitting in the car with him. Amin Hosseini was a suspect in two earlier cases. He was linked to the February 2014 murder of the Surinamese criminal Alexander Gillis in Zaandam, and according to police he was the man who shot the innocent Stefan Eggermont in July 2014 — a case of mistaken identity, since the target was someone else. Prosecutors work on the assumption that Amin Hosseini was killed precisely because of that blunder. In December 2018 Iliass K. was arrested in his cell on suspicion of involvement in his death. In January 2022 K. received a life sentence for his role in three killings: Gillis, Eggermont and Amin Hosseini; the court regarded him as the broker who took the contracts and placed them. In December 2023 the appeal court upheld that life sentence. A co-defendant received 24 years and 8 months for complicity. On 8 July 2025 the Supreme Court dismissed K.'s cassation appeal, making the life sentence final.
