Café owner Kenneth 'Flaco' Richards (58) found dead in his home on Jeltje de Bosch Kemperpad

Kenneth Renaldo Richards (58), known locally as 'Flaco', was born in Suriname and had run the café-restaurant Casanova on Lootsstraat in Amsterdam Oud-West since 1988. On the morning of Friday 24 January 2014 he closed up at around half past six, with five last customers present. That was the last time he was seen alive. On the morning of Saturday 25 January he was found dead in his home on Jeltje de Bosch Kemperpad, undressed. His flat had been searched and turned over. Police initially spoke of suspicious circumstances and later treated it as a crime. Richards was no stranger to Amsterdam nightlife. According to Het Parool he had been briefly kidnapped in 1995 by the criminal August Adjoeba, who was himself killed in 2008. What happened in his flat, and who was responsible, has never been established. The case remained unsolved.
