Angelique Galavazi (22) stabbed to death at home by an ex-boyfriend

On 1 December 2004 the 22-year-old Angelique Galavazi was stabbed to death in her home in Amsterdam. Her father found her that evening. Suspicion first fell on her Moroccan ex-boyfriend, the father of her eight-month-old daughter, who had allegedly abused her before; he was arrested but released for lack of evidence. Later another ex came forward: 25-year-old Sebastiaan P., with whom she had had a brief relationship and who by his own account still had feelings for her. That evening he was visiting her and read a text message showing she was back in touch with the man who had allegedly raped her. A violent argument followed; P. tried to rape her and then stabbed her to death with a large number of knife wounds. In March 2006 he was sentenced to six years in prison and TBS with compulsory treatment.
