Man with an intellectual disability strangles his schizophrenic brother in their parents' home

On 24 January 2004 the 35-year-old Ricky B. strangled his 37-year-old brother Mario in their parents' home in Amsterdam. Ricky had an intellectual disability; Mario suffered from schizophrenia. According to reports at the time, Ricky intervened when his brother was about to attack their mother. The prosecution charged him with manslaughter. How the court ruled, and whether his disability and the threat to their mother were taken into account, does not appear in public sources: no judgment in the case has been published.
