Rapper Bigidagoe shot dead near station Sloterdijk

On February 25, 2024, the 26-year-old Amsterdam rapper Danzel Silos, professionally known as Bigidagoe, was fatally shot on Rhoneweg near Sloterdijk station shortly after leaving a party at a nearby events center. The shooting occurred following a dispute over a piece of jewelry between two groups in which the perpetrator felt belittled and subsequently fired four shots into the rapper's group using a firearm handed to him by an accomplice. Bigidagoe was struck in vital organs including his heart and liver and died of his injuries in the hospital shortly after, while the shooter managed to flee but was arrested by police a week later at an airport in Paris. In April 2025, the court in Amsterdam sentenced the perpetrator, 21-year-old Shairone S., to fourteen years in prison for manslaughter for brutally ending a young life. A second suspect went free. On 3 March 2026 the Amsterdam court acquitted a man of complicity in the manslaughter: it could not be established that he was the person who had handed the weapon to the gunman, and the court attached limited evidential weight to the police identification.
