Dalibor Spasic (34) shot dead in a row over hashish on Sieg Vaz Diasstraat

On Friday 27 December 2013 Khalid A. was sitting in café Zomerlust when two men came in, one of whom he knew. The stranger invited him to step outside. It was about four kilos of hashish that A. was said to have sold without paying his supplier. In the street round the corner, Sieg Vaz Diasstraat in Slotermeer, they stopped and a car pulled up. Two men got out: one of them, 34-year-old Dalibor Spasic, came at him along the road, the other along the pavement. According to A., Spasic drew a firearm, at which he drew his own - and he was faster. He was grateful to God for that to this day, he later told the court. In early January 2015 the Amsterdam court held that self-defence could not be ruled out for the fatal shot, so that he deserved no punishment for it. A. did receive five years, because he had gone on to fire at his fleeing opponents. Prosecutors appealed and demanded fourteen years; nothing has been published about the outcome of that appeal.
