Colombian H. Villegas Jaramillo (45) shot during a drug robbery at his home on Jan van Galenstraat

On Friday 28 June 2013 the 45-year-old Colombian H. Villegas Jaramillo was shot at his home on Jan van Galenstraat, in front of his wife and their six-year-old son. He died of his injuries a little over a week later. The killers turned out to be two compatriots, Milton S. and Jürgen L., who had forced their way in to rob him of drugs and money and fired when he resisted. Villegas Jaramillo was found in the entrance hall of the building. The robbers fled in a car parked at a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet; police recovered a bag from the restaurant that had been thrown from it. According to prosecutors they had no premeditated plan to kill him - the drug robbery simply went wrong. The prosecution demanded twelve years. Milton S. received that; Jürgen L. got four. On 8 July 2016 the Amsterdam court of appeal upheld the conviction for complicity in aggravated manslaughter, and on 6 March 2018 the Supreme Court let that judgment stand.
