23-year-old Syrian found shot dead in van on Latherusstraat, Noord

The 23-year-old delivery driver Anas Hajji Abdulsalam, originally from Syria and living in Amstelveen, was murdered in April 2021 after being reported missing by his family; shortly afterward, his body was found in a delivery van in Amsterdam-Noord, and it later emerged that he had been shot earlier in Amstelveen, but the motive for the killing remained unclear, and although two older suspects were considered for a long time and prosecutors sought heavy sentences, the court ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prove their involvement, leading to their acquittal and leaving the case of the young driver's death largely unresolved.
