Lauranio Bronne (22) killed when firearm discharged in van, body dumped in ditch in Nieuw-West

In March 2021, 22-year-old Lauranio Bronne from Assendelft was shot dead following a conflict with Hamid B. while they were together in the cabin of a van. Bronne died from a gunshot wound through his mouth, after which his body was abandoned in a ditch near the Amsterdam green area Tuinen van West and discovered the following morning by a passerby. The Amsterdam Court of Appeal sentenced Hamid B. to thirteen years in prison for manslaughter, ruling his claim—that the victim had accidentally shot himself—to be implausible and concluding that B. had intentionally taken Bronne's life. Following the shooting, B. and two accomplices, Justin D. and Jahmal N., fled to Antwerp to dispose of the victim's phone and purchase new clothing. For their roles in transporting and hiding the body, the two accomplices were each sentenced to one year in prison. The court emphasized that B.'s actions, both during and after the killing, demonstrated a total lack of respect for the victim's life, and in addition to the prison sentence, the court upheld requirements for the suspects to account for their actions.
