Martin van de Pol (56) shot dead in Zuidoost in front of his daughter (7)

On 4 March 2021 notorious criminal and former Ajax hooligan Martin van de Pol (56), known as 'Polletje', picked up his 7-year-old daughter from school. According to witnesses the gunman had been waiting near the school for about five minutes; as they walked to his ex-partner's home on Alexander Dumaslaan in Venserpolder, Zuidoost, he shot Van de Pol in the head at around 2.10 p.m. He died in front of the young girl. Police released camera footage of the shooter, described as a young man of 20 to 25 with a tanned complexion, roughly 1.80 to 1.90 metres tall, wearing dark clothing — a black Krakatau parka — and a light-coloured mask. The case also featured on the television programme Opsporing Verzocht but produced only a single usable tip. Van de Pol had previously been sentenced to 15 years in prison for shooting dead four men in sex club Esther in Haarlem in early 2000. The killing remains unsolved and the gunman is still at large.
