Akram el Idrissi (21) shot on football pitch on Hunzestraat in Rivierenbuurt

On the evening of March 23, 2022, Akram el Idrissi (21) was standing with a group of friends on a small football pitch on Hunzestraat in the Rivierenbuurt. A friend was involved in a dispute over a stolen Rolex. His brother-in-law contacted Ismail H. (19), who arrived on an e-bike carrying a gas alarm pistol converted to fire live rounds. After sitting on a bench, he opened fire from about 25 metres, shooting at least five times. El Idrissi was fatally struck in the abdomen. Prosecutors also charged H. with attempted manslaughter of eleven others present. The same weapon had previously been used in shootings in Amsterdam-West and Bos en Lommer. The criminal case is still ongoing.
