Ayman Mouyah (19) shot dead on Kattenburg

Ayman Mouyah, a 19-year-old man from Amsterdam and former kickboxer, was shot dead during the night of Wednesday 22 to Thursday 23 November 2017 on Olifantswerf in the Kattenburg area of Amsterdam-Centrum. The shooting happened at around 01:00. Ayman was there with several friends when a conflict broke out connected to a stolen scooter. The suspect, Tim S., opened fire on the group. Ayman was fatally hit and was left dead at the scene. Three other young men, aged 18 and 19, were injured and taken to hospital. Nearby, police later found a scooter lying on its side with its lights still on. The shooting caused major shock in the neighbourhood. Friends and acquaintances later described Ayman as a young man with a big heart, someone who knew many people and had been active in sport. Tim S. was later arrested and prosecuted for the fatal shooting. According to the court, after the dispute over the scooter he deliberately used a firearm and shot at the group, killing Ayman Mouyah and wounding three others. On 7 May 2019, Tim S. was sentenced to 16 years in prison for shooting Ayman dead and injuring the other victims. The case was legally treated as a fatal street shooting after a conflict, in which Ayman Mouyah lost his life at the age of 19 on Kattenburg.
