Dwight Mook (43) shot dead in De Banne, Amsterdam-Noord

On the afternoon of Tuesday July 18 2023 43-year-old Dwight Mook was lured to a remote parking lot at the Vikingpad in Amsterdam-Noord under the pretext of an appointment presumably related to a drug deal. While Mook was standing in the parking lot around 4:00 PM talking to 25-year-old Rell K. the latter suddenly shouted "Klara Klara man!" which turned out to be the pre-arranged signal for the shooter. At that moment 27-year-old Revelino 'Lino' K. jumped out from the surrounding bushes and immediately opened fire. Mook was hit in his upper leg severing a vital artery which led to massive blood loss. While the shooters fled on foot the seriously injured Mook was pulled into a red car with Belgian license plates by friends and rushed at high speed to the emergency room of the nearby BovenIJ hospital. Despite the rapid medical care he died of his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The police initially detained the two men who had brought Mook to the hospital but they were later released when it appeared they had only been trying to save his life. The investigation eventually led to Rell and Revelino K. who were described by detectives as the executors of an "amateurish but cold-blooded" hit in broad daylight. Although the suspects were described as having intellectual disabilities the court ruled in May 2025 that they had acted systematically and sentenced them both to eighteen years in prison for their part in the murder. This outburst of violence marked the end of the life of a man who himself had shot and killed Amsterdam resident René Nijda in 2001 after a traffic dispute in the Reguliersdwarsstraat.
