Fatal shooting at Koningin Wilhelminaplein

In Amsterdam Nieuw-West a 19-year-old man was killed in a shooting during the night of Saturday 14 to Sunday 15 March 2026. He was shot at around 1.30 a.m. at Koningin Wilhelminaplein; emergency services tried to resuscitate him, but he could not be saved. A second victim was later identified: a 21-year-old from Amsterdam, found seriously injured nearby and taken to hospital. He is now out of danger. Police investigation indicates that this second man was involved in the shooting, though his exact role is still being examined. On 21 March 2026 police arrested a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam for involvement in the fatal shooting. Two more arrests followed: a 25-year-old and a 36-year-old, also from Amsterdam. All three suspects were remanded in custody. Police have not ruled out further arrests and are still looking for witnesses and camera footage; what triggered the shooting remains unclear. On 26 June 2026 two of the suspects appeared for the first time at a public preliminary hearing in Amsterdam. According to Het Parool the victim was Tarik Dorp, and the conflict began that night in the 24-hour Basic-Fit gym on the square, where 25-year-old Ilias F. was training. After an argument with three young men, Tarik among them, F. allegedly called in friends; outside in the car park 37-year-old Noureddin el H. allegedly opened fire. F. fled to Morocco and was arrested on his return; prosecutors suspect him of joint murder. F. and El H. remain in custody, two other suspects have been released. The case was due to continue on 8 September 2026.
