Brennan Dalfour (29) shot on Jacob Krausstraat. Dies in hospital.

Brennan Dalfour, a 29-year-old man from Amsterdam, was shot dead during the night of Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 October 2019 on Jacob Krausstraat in Amsterdam-Slotervaart. The shooting happened at around 01:25 to 01:30, close to the address where Dalfour was staying at the time. Emergency services arrived and tried to help him; he was taken to hospital, but died there less than an hour later from his injuries. Dalfour did not have a permanent address in the Netherlands and moved between Amsterdam and Marbella in Spain. According to police, he was known to police and justice authorities. In the hours before his death, detectives tried to reconstruct his movements. On the Saturday afternoon, he had an appointment with a friend and later visited Barcafé F on Agatha Dekenstraat in Amsterdam, also known by its former name Ronaldinho. At around 00:35, he left by taxi and was dropped off near Hemsterhuisstraat and Johan Huizingalaan. There he met an unknown man with whom he visited café Amore on Johan Huizingalaan; that man had probably first waited for him in the neighbouring eatery The Happiness. The two then walked together along Hemsterhuisstraat towards Cornelis Lelylaan, where they arrived at around 01:05. Police later focused on how Dalfour got from that area to Jacob Krausstraat between approximately 01:05 and 01:30, and on the identity of the unknown man he had been with shortly before his death. When Dalfour was shot at around 01:30 on Jacob Krausstraat, he was almost back at the place where he was staying. Police considered it possible that the gunman had either waited for him or followed him. After the shooting, the suspected gunman fled on foot through a playground near Van Mourik Broekmanstraat towards Cornelis Lelylaan and was possibly wearing a dark grey or black-grey hooded jacket from The North Face. In the first days after the killing, police also investigated whether Dalfour had been involved in an incident during Amsterdam Dance Event shortly before his death, but public reporting does not show that this led to a proven motive or a conviction. Dalfour came from a family that had repeatedly been linked to gun violence and serious crime: several relatives had previously been shot or killed. That partly explains why the case immediately drew attention, but it did not clarify which conflict ultimately led to his death. Based on publicly available sources, no one has been convicted for the murder of Brennan Dalfour. Police searched for both the shooter and the unknown man Dalfour met shortly before he was killed, but in public reporting the case has remained unsolved.
