Man (38) shot dead in front of his home on Klipperweg in Diemen

Vincent Jalink, a 38-year-old man from Diemen, was shot dead on Friday evening, 27 May 2016, outside his home on Klipperweg in Diemen-Noord. Shortly before the shooting, he had picked up his 9-year-old son from the boy’s grandmother and parked his car near his house. While his son was present, Jalink was shot at close range. The gunman fired twelve bullets. Jalink was seriously wounded and died just over an hour later in hospital from his injuries. His young son witnessed the liquidation, a fact that both the district court and later the court of appeal considered especially serious. Vincent Jalink was known in the media as an event organiser and was also linked to the criminal underworld. Shortly before his death, he had been convicted of money laundering, and reports said other cases involving him were still pending. Police treated the shooting as a targeted liquidation. Almost a year later, on 12 April 2017, Gideon G. was arrested as the suspected shooter. He came from Amsterdam-Zuidoost and was linked in reports to the circle around the rap group and street gang Green Gang. In January 2020, the district court sentenced him to 23 years in prison for shooting Vincent Jalink dead. According to the court, the murder had been planned and carried out in a cold and businesslike way. On appeal, the Amsterdam Court of Appeal sentenced him on 17 May 2023 to 22 years in prison for co-perpetrating the murder. The appeal court imposed a slightly lower sentence than the district court because the proceedings had taken a long time. Gideon G. was therefore established as the convicted executor of the liquidation. The case continued against other suspects who, according to the Public Prosecution Service, had been involved in the preparation, organisation or background of the murder. Prosecutors believed the liquidation may have resulted from a conflict surrounding a debt collection assignment and a failed or disputed criminal deal. In 2026, prosecutors again demanded prison sentences against several men. Later, Willy F. and Muhammed S. were among those convicted for their roles in the preparation and execution of the murder; Willy F. received 13.5 years in prison and Muhammed S. 8 years. Andries K. was also convicted in connection with an attempt to have Jalink kidnapped and extorted, and for involvement in drug trafficking.
