Goran Tasic (46) executed on Piet Mondriaanstraat

Goran Tasić, a 46-year-old man of Serbian origin, was shot dead on Thursday evening, 15 March 2018, on Piet Mondriaanstraat in Amsterdam-Slotervaart. Earlier that evening, he had arrived at Schiphol Airport and taken a taxi from the airport to Amsterdam. According to the investigation, it appears that he was lured to Piet Mondriaanstraat for a meeting. At around 22:00, he was ambushed and shot. The gunman fired dozens of bullets at him. Tasić was found seriously injured in a porch and was rushed to hospital, but later died from his injuries. After the shooting, the perpetrator fled through an alley next to garage boxes. On the suspected escape route, police later found a possible murder weapon in a ditch: an Agram 2000, a 9mm submachine gun. Police considered the possibility that the shooter had received help and also looked for a possible accomplice who was seen shortly after the shooting walking through the pedestrian tunnel under the A10 motorway towards the Ramada hotel. Tasić had a criminal record and was linked to drug trafficking between the Netherlands and Scandinavia. He had reportedly previously been convicted of attempted murder and extortion and had spent much of the previous years in Sweden. Police treated the shooting as a targeted killing and considered a possible conflict within the criminal underworld. In April 2018, Igor S., an acquaintance of Tasić, was arrested in Hungary and handed over to the Netherlands, but he was released shortly afterwards due to lack of evidence. In July 2018, another Serbian suspect was arrested in Belgium on suspicion of involvement in the murder. A large amount of cash was found hidden in his car, and during a search of a home in Amsterdam-Zuid, more money was discovered. Another Serbian man was also arrested there on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking. As far as is known, these arrests did not lead to a conviction for the murder of Goran Tasić. The murder has never been solved. Although police treated the shooting as a targeted killing and considered a possible link to international drug trafficking, it has never been established who shot him or who ordered the murder.
